The project to build the new 460m2 community centre with a dedicated Mayfacs office and integrated, lower ground floor, purpose-built, 350m2 medical centre with our partner Wealden District Council (WDC,) continues to move forward at pace.

At the time of going to press, the final legal ‘engrossment’ documents have been signed by the PC and are actively being signed by the other parties. Once all parties have signed and contracts exchanged it will be full steam ahead for the project, which we have all waited for so long to commence.

The project’s main contractor, Sunninghill Construction, will be on-site on the 7 April 2026 when they will be closing the car park and erecting a perimeter fence surrounding the construction area, thus making it safe and secure. 

We are trying to mitigate the inevitable disruption of building work as much as possible and therefore Court Meadow and the Scout & Guide Hall can be accessed 24/7 by a temporary footpath open throughout the construction period, which will also provide safe access to the back entrance of the primary school. In addition, there will be a dedicated walkway to the Band Hut and arrangements are being made for the annual September carnival to take place. 

During April and May setting-up activity on-site will begin in earnest followed by the  demolition of the old Memorial Hall in readiness for construction work to begin on the 25^th May 2026.  Project completion remains on course for 23 April 2027.

Throughout the programme of works we will be attending regular monthly progress meetings and making on-site inspections with the building contractor and members of the contractor’s team.
